Kathmandu – The Federation of Automobile Dealers’ Associations has published the vehicle sales report for January 2025. According to the report, Maruti Suzuki has once again maintained its dominance in the Indian market, with Hyundai India holding the second position and Mahindra securing third place. Some automobile companies saw strong profits, while others faced losses.
Maruti Suzuki sold 173,599 passenger vehicles in January 2025, marking a 4% increase compared to the previous year. The company also reported a significant boost in exports. In January 2024, Maruti Suzuki exported 23,921 units, whereas in January 2025, it exported 27,100 units, reflecting a 13% rise in exports.
However, Hyundai India experienced a decline in sales compared to the previous year. The company sold 65,603 units in January 2025, down from 67,615 units in January 2024. This represents a 5.44% decrease in local sales, although Hyundai saw a 10.47% increase in exports.
Mahindra, on the other hand, showed strong growth with a 19.24% increase in sales. The company sold a total of 52,306 units in January 2025, with 50,659 units sold in the Indian market. Consumer confidence has been bolstered by the recent 5-star safety ratings awarded to Mahindra’s newly launched BE 6 and XEV 9e electric vehicles in the Bharat NCAP (New Car Safety Assessment Program) crash tests.
In contrast, Tata Motors faced continued losses in sales. The company sold 48,316 passenger vehicles in January 2025, marking an 11% decrease from the previous year. The sales of electric vehicles also dropped by 25%, which negatively impacted the company’s overall performance.
