Kathmandu – Today, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli honored and presented awards to medal-winning players, coaches, and management from the SAFF Women’s Football, Asian Karate, and CAVA (Central Asian Volleyball Association) Beach Volleyball tournaments.
The awards were presented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, in accordance with the criteria set out in the decision of the Government of Nepal, Council of Ministers, on 28th Mangsir. Following the Prime Minister’s directives, tax exemptions have been granted to the awards presented in the sports sector.
The awards were presented to football medalists Amrita Jaishi and head coach Rajendra Tamang for their achievements at the SAFF Women’s Championship, held in Kathmandu from 1st to 14th Kartik. In Karate, the award was given to medalist Arika Gurung and head coach Kushal Shrestha for their performance at the 20th Asian Karate Championship, held from 1st to 7th Ashoj.
Likewise, the award was presented to medalists Kamala Pun, Manish Kumari Chaudhary, and Coach Rupesh Kumar Bista for their success at the CAVA Beach Volleyball Men’s and Women’s Tournament held in Thimphu, Bhutan, from 17th to 20th Shrawan. These awards were given in recognition of their significant contribution to raising the country’s pride on the international stage.
At the event, the Prime Minister congratulated the winners and urged them to approach future competitions with high determination, stating that with courage, they can win. He emphasized that teamwork and coordination are essential in sports. He also called for the advancement and progress of Nepali sports and urged everyone to work toward it.
Minister Teju Lal Chaudhary informed that he has been urging the concerned authorities to send the details of other medal-winning players who have yet to receive their awards, so they can be honored as soon as possible.
