Kathmandu- The Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal has announced that it will conduct a ‘National Meeting’ on 27th Poush in Kathmandu. The federation held a press conference today and announced plans to hold the meeting in order to resolve the critical situation in the construction industry.

Construction contractors have reported that a large amount of payment from previous years remains unpaid, creating a crisis in the sector. It has been informed that the Federation is planning to organize the National Meeting to find a solution to the problem. According to Roshan Dahal, General Secretary of the Federation, despite repeated assurances from the government regarding payment, there has still been no response.

General Secretary Dahal further explained that issues such as the increase in the price of construction materials, reduced loan availability, and extensions of deadlines in the Public Procurement Regulations have pushed the construction industry into an extreme crisis.

He said, “The construction industry has reached a blackout situation. Administrative carelessness and the rise in the price of construction materials have led this industry into this serious situation.”

The Federation mentioned that despite constant meetings with the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and other stakeholders related to the solution of the problem, no solid solution has yet been reached. As per the mandate of the ‘National Meeting,’ the Federation plans to organize step movements. The Federation informed that construction contractors from all over the country will attend the meeting.
