Kathmandu– Minendra Rijal, a member of the Nepali Congress, stated that despite significant progress in Nepal over the past 30 years, the number of youths migrating abroad has not decreased.
Speaking at an event organized by Associate Provincial Committee of the Federation of Nepali Journalists on Monday in Kathmandu, Dr. Rijal acknowledged the advancements made in the economic, social, health, and education sectors over the past three decades. However, he emphasized that these improvements have not been enough to convince the youth that a secure future is possible in Nepal.
Rijal pointed out that many young people in Nepal no longer see a stable future within the country. He stressed the need to address the underlying issues contributing to youth migration, including the need for constitutional amendments to further strengthen democracy and improve the prospects for the youth.
“There is frequent formation and toppling of governments based on artificial majorities. It is essential to amend the constitution so that governments are formed based on a natural majority,” he said. Rijal also reviewed the constitutional practices over the past nine years, highlighting the necessity for reforms.
In conclusion, Rijal extended his best wishes to the newly elected officials of the Journalist Federation, expressing hope for a successful tenure. He also acknowledged the significant contributions of journalism to the nation’s development.
