Weekly Stock Market Review: Investors’ Wealth Grows by Nearly Rs 200 Billion



Kathmandu – The secondary securities market saw a bullish trend this week. According to the data from Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), the NEPSE index surged by 111.98 points over the week.

At the end of last week’s trading, the NEPSE index stood at 2,870.63 points. By the close of trading this Thursday, the index had climbed to 2,982.64 points.

As a result, investors’ wealth increased by nearly Rs 200 billion this week. The market capitalization, which was approximately Rs 4.783 trillion at the end of last week, reached over Rs 4.977 trillion by the end of this week – an increment of around Rs 193.67 billion.

Sunday

On the first trading day (Sunday), the NEPSE index rose by 0.32 points, closing at 2,870.95. Nepal Reinsurance Company recorded the highest transaction of the day with shares worth Rs 985.5 million changing hands.

A total of 317 companies traded 51.66 million shares, resulting in a daily turnover of Rs 21.46 billion.

Monday

On Monday, the index surged by 21.76 points to reach 2,892.72. Again, Nepal Reinsurance led the market with transactions worth Rs 756.6 million.

Shares of 311 companies were traded, totaling 35.64 million units, with a turnover of Rs 16.33 billion.

Tuesday

Tuesday witnessed a major rally in the stock market as the index soared by 80.97 points, reaching 2,973.70. Nepal Reinsurance again topped the turnover chart with Rs 718.8 million in trading volume.

A total of 319 companies traded 43.58 million shares, generating a total turnover of Rs 20.09 billion.

Wednesday

The index showed only a marginal gain on Wednesday, rising by 5.17 points to close at 2,978.88. Himalayan Reinsurance had the highest turnover of Rs 781 million that day.

Altogether, 319 companies witnessed the trading of 44.87 million shares, with total turnover reaching Rs 19.58 billion.

Thursday

On the final trading day (Thursday), the NEPSE index increased by 4.48 points, settling at 2,983.36. Radhi Bidyut Company recorded the highest transaction of the day with shares worth Rs 772.1 million.

Shares of 328 companies were traded, totaling 38.96 million units, with the day’s turnover amounting to Rs 18.49 billion.
