Nepal’s Imports and Exports Increase by 10 Percent and 46.50 Percent, Respectively



Kathmandu: Nepal’s total foreign trade has increased by 13.30 percent, according to statistics published by the Customs Department, based on the first seven months of the fiscal year 2080/81.

In the last fiscal year, up until the month of Magh, Nepal’s total foreign trade amounted to 984 billion, 774 million, and 811 thousand rupees. This fiscal year, during the same period, total foreign trade has reached 1 trillion, 115 billion, 792 million, and 529 thousand rupees.

Nepal’s imports have risen by 10.09 percent. In the previous fiscal year, imports for the first seven months totaled 897 billion, 943 million, and 899 thousand rupees. This fiscal year, imports have increased to 988 billion, 587 million, and 700 thousand rupees.

However, Nepal’s exports have seen a significant rise of 46.50 percent. In the last fiscal year, up until the month of Magh, exports were valued at 86 billion, 830 million, and 912 thousand rupees. This fiscal year, exports have grown to 127 billion, 204 million, and 829 thousand rupees.

In addition, Nepal’s trade deficit has increased by 6.20 percent. During the first seven months of the previous fiscal year, the trade deficit stood at 811 billion, 112 million, and 988 thousand rupees. This fiscal year, the trade deficit has risen to 861 billion, 382 million, and 871 thousand rupees.
