Kathmandu- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stated that democracy has paved the way for national development.
Addressing an event organized at the Military Forum on the occasion of the 75th National Democracy Day on Wednesday, Prime Minister Oli emphasized that the construction of roads, bridges, tunnels, electricity networks, hospitals, professional business centers, schools, and colleges has only been possible because of democracy.
He further mentioned that the prosperity of the nation and the happiness of its citizens are the true essence of democracy. According to him, perfect democracy ensures equal rights and opportunities, equality, social justice, respect, and security for all.
Prime Minister Oli also stated that, despite the rising population and challenges, the government is making progress by balancing institutional and state power.
Highlighting the importance of the younger generation as the future of the nation, he noted that education, healthcare, employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities have been provided to them. He also pointed out that entrepreneurship is being encouraged through startups.
In his address, Prime Minister Oli reiterated his commitment to making democracy more transparent and accountable. He emphasized the government’s dedication to eliminating disparity, poverty, and corruption in society.
He concluded by stating that Falgun 7th is a day to pay tribute to the warriors who sacrificed their lives in the relentless struggle for the establishment of citizens’ democratic rights.
Reminiscing about the history of the struggle for democracy, he called it a day to resolve to fulfill the aspirations of the people and bring prosperity and happiness to the nation through continued effort. The Prime Minister urged unity and collective contribution toward fulfilling the national goal of effective governance and ensuring good governance, development, prosperity, and the well-being of the country’s people.
