Kathmandu- Tourism activities have seen a rise in Sailung, Dolakha, following recent infrastructure development.
Locals have reported that the improved infrastructure has led to an increase in tourist movement. They also noted that the number of tourists has grown compared to previous years, making the tourism sector increasingly vital for the livelihoods of local residents.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nepal, Binod Prakesh Singh, Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Aviation, stated that infrastructure development has played a key role in boosting tourism in the Sailung area. He emphasized the importance of such development being done in a way that preserves the area’s natural beauty.
Singh also highlighted that support for tourism development would come from all levels of government—local, provincial, and federal—in order to enhance facilities and attract both international and local tourists.
Local resident Sangam Lama shared that two major fairs are held annually in Sailung, during the New Year and on Shrawan Purnima. He noted that while there is still significant work to be done to further develop tourism, the area has made considerable progress compared to the past.
Lama also mentioned that Sailung’s climate, situated at an elevation of 3,145 meters, is constantly changing and is often shrouded in clouds.
