Kathmandu– The Ministry of Health and Population has appointed actress Manisha Koirala as the Goodwill Ambassador for the HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccine campaign.
The government has selected Koirala as the Goodwill Ambassador for both the national vaccine program and the HPV vaccine campaign. Speaking at an event organized for this occasion, Health and Population Minister Pradeep Poudel stated that the campaign to promote the HPV vaccine nationwide has officially begun.
Minister Poudel also announced that the Health and Population Ministry will provide the vaccine to 1.6 million teenagers aged 10-14 years. He explained that schools would be the primary centers for administering the vaccine to students in grades 6 to 10. For those unable to receive the vaccine at school, it will be available at local wards.
Additionally, Minister Poudel confirmed that actress Koirala will serve as Goodwill Ambassador for three years, supporting all vaccination campaigns during this period. He emphasized that efforts are being carried out effectively with the goal of making Nepal cancer-free.
Speaking at the event, actress Manisha Koirala expressed her joy at participating in this vaccination campaign. The government’s HPV vaccination initiative is set to begin on 22nd Magh.
