Kathmandu Metropolitan to Impose Fine for Throwing Waste in Public Places



Kathmandu- Kathmandu Metropolitan City has warned of strict action against individuals who throw waste in public places. According to a statement issued by the Kathmandu Metropolitan, the throwing and discarding of waste from houses, compounds, and premises in public spaces has been strictly prohibited.

The Municipality stated that such actions not only pollute the city but also pose significant risks to public health, prompting the decision. The Environment Management Department added, “If waste is not managed properly, it can spread diseases that directly affect the health of residents.”

As per the Environment Protection Regulations Act, 2077, Section 52 (F), anyone found throwing waste in public places will face fines ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 rupees.
