Kathmandu – A Tourist Police unit will be established in Khaptad, a major tourist destination in Sudhur Pachim Province, and Rara, a key tourist site in Karnali Province, by the Tourism Department under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.
Currently, Tourist Police units operate in five provinces; however, Karnali and Sudhur Pachim provinces do not have such units. Dr. Narayan Regmi, Director General and Joint Secretary of the Tourism Department, informed that the Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has approved the formation of Tourist Police units in Khaptad and Rara. The implementation process is in progress.
The establishment of Tourist Police units in Khaptad and Rara is expected to ease the movement of tourists and enhance their security. In addition to safeguarding tourists from various countries, Tourist Police units also assist in facilitating their travel.
