IPPAN Celebrates Silver Jubilee on Its 25th Anniversary



Kathmandu. Today, the Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) celebrated its Silver Jubilee on the occasion of its 25th anniversary in Kathmandu.

The program featured Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli as the Chief Guest, with Deepak Khadka, Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, as the Special Guest, along with distinguished members from the electricity department.

Addressing the program, the President of IPPAN, Ganesh Karki, urged banking participation in electricity production and added that more electricity should be produced and consumed within the country.

Congratulating IPPAN on its 25th anniversary, Prime Minister Oli praised IPPAN for its contribution to the development of the country. Addressing the issue of the market, he noted that the construction sector requires electricity for its operation. He mentioned that eight industrial sectors are currently under construction, and the electricity produced in Nepal will be consumed within the country, solving the market problem.

He also highlighted that Nepal is rich in natural resources. By utilizing renewable resources and generating the expected hydropower production, Nepal will no longer need to import fossil fuels in 2-3 years. He added that studies related to green hydrogen are underway, and the government will soon announce its plans for producing it to generate electricity.

Energy Minister Khadka encouraged the private sector to invest fearlessly in electricity production. He added that this government is committed to rapid development and the government is ready to amend policies that do not align with public welfare.During the program, two IPPAN employees were awarded for their dedication over two decades.
