Kathmandu- Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey stated that despite the immense possibilities in the tourism sector, Nepal has not been able to fully utilize them.
Addressing the 26th Anniversary of the Nepal Tourism Board on Monday, Minister Pandey emphasized the importance of mutual coordination to promote tourism. He noted that, despite the sector’s vast potential, its contribution to self-employment and the GDP remains minimal. He stressed the need to focus on promoting tourism, rather than merely claiming the possibilities it holds.
Minister Pandey highlighted that both the government and the private sector should work together to achieve results in the tourism sector.
“We often speak of the vast possibilities in the tourism sector, but we are unable to capitalize on them. The sector’s contribution to self-employment and the country’s GDP is minimal. If we continue to simply talk about it, like reciting Puranas, we won’t make any progress. There’s no point in repeating these ideas without bringing about tangible results,” he said.
Minister Pandey further emphasized that both the government and the private sector must collaborate to promote tourism. He pointed out that the issue lies in a tendency to create obstacles instead of finding solutions. He added that if tourists are welcomed warmly, Nepal’s tourism will be better promoted.
