Kathmandu – Today, a public holiday has been declared for Kathmandu Metropolitan City and other subordinate offices to mourn the passing of former Mayor PL Singh.
Singh, who had been suffering from an intestinal problem since the age of 85, passed away at the age of 88.
He was elected as the Mayor of Kathmandu Municipality in 2049 BS. During his tenure, on 29th Mangsir 2052 BS, Kathmandu Municipality was upgraded to a Metropolitan City.
His body was kept at his residence until 11 AM this morning. According to Nabin Mahanandar, spokesperson for Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the body will be moved to Sanepa for the final tribute. Following the tribute, the funeral will take place at 1 PM at the Rudramati River Bank.
