Kathmandu – The Nepalese Association of Financial Journalists (NAFIJ) has elected a new working committee under the leadership of Menuka Karki. The election was held during the 15th Annual General Meeting and 7th General Assembly of NAFIJ on Saturday.
Menuka Karki, the former Deputy Chairman, secured 100 votes to win the Chairmanship, defeating her opponent, Indra Baniya, who received 87 votes.
The newly elected working committee will consist of 13 members. In addition to the Chairperson, the General Assembly elected two Deputy Chairpersons, a Secretary General, a Secretary, a Treasurer, and four members, making a total of 10 elected positions. According to Kapil Dev Dhakal, the Coordinator of the Election Committee, Pitambari Khatiwada (Parmila) and Nirojkumar Thapa were elected as Deputy Chairpersons. Khatiwada received 104 votes, while Thapa garnered 93 votes. Their opponents, Parmeshwor Adhikari and Bijay Dhamashe, received 92 and 65 votes, respectively.
Nikesh Khatri was elected General Secretary with 112 votes, defeating Nabin Dhungana, who received 66 votes. Raja Ram Neupane was elected Secretary, while his opponent, Chetnarayan Pandey, received 57 votes.
Milan Bishwakarma was elected Treasurer with a majority vote, while his opponent, Bhola Devkota (pariwartan), received 83 votes.
Additionally, Anish Mijar (120 votes), Anup Acharya (118 votes), Chitra Raj Bhandari (CR) (116 votes), and Sukra Giri (107 votes) were elected as members of the new working committee. Their opponent, Ashutosh Aryal, secured 92 votes.
