Traffic Police seize 52 Motorcycles Causing Sound Pollution



Kathmandu- The Traffic Police have seized 52 motorcycles from various locations in Kathmandu for causing sound pollution. The operation, which began on 19th Mangsir, has resulted in the confiscation of these motorcycles during routine checks.

The Traffic Police reported that, on Monday alone, 12 motorcycles were seized. In total, 52 motorcycles have been taken into custody since the start of the operation, according to Sanjay Bahadur Raut, Superintendent of Police at the Traffic Police Office.

Superintendent Raut explained that the motorcycles were seized for modifications that lead to excessive noise, including the creation of holes in silencers, removal of silencers, and the use of modified DV killers, all of which produce loud sounds.

It was stated that the seized motorcycles will be tested by the Department of Environment. Those found to be modified will be sent to the Transport Management Office in Satungal for further action, while the remaining motorcycles will face fines in accordance with the Vehicle and Transport Management Act, 2049.
