Kathmandu . A rally has been organized in Kathmandu to mark the 76th International Human Rights Day. Human rights activists led the rally, which passed through areas including Rantapark and Maitighar.
Top Bahadur Magar, Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, participated in the rally and said that this year’s theme focuses on economic, social, and environmental rights, as well as the human rights of marginalized communities.
He added that the main focus of this year’s International Human Rights Day is on marginalized communities. Magar emphasized that under the social justice provisions of the Constitution, economically, socially, and institutionally disadvantaged groups—especially women, Dalits, and marginalized people-should have a voice in state bodies through proportional representation and social inclusion. He urged marginalized people to raise their voices to ensure their rights are not denied.
Human rights activists have also been going door-to-door, carrying placards that read Human Rights, The Foundation of Peace and Development and Climate Justice, The Need of the Hour.
