Today marked the beginning of the 6th Global International Conference at Global College, located in Old Baneshwor. The main theme of the conference is “Navigating the Future with AI and Information Communication Technologies for Innovation, Sustainability, and Resilience in Management Practices.”
The conference featured various eminent personalities, including scholars and researchers from both national and international levels. The inaugural program included Dhurba Kumar Gautam, Vice-Chancellor of Mid-West University, as the chief guest. Additionally, Anton Marslav, First Secretary of the Russian Federation in Nepal, Julien Chevillard, UNDP-Nepal Resident Representative, and Prof. Pushkar Bajracharya were some of the guests who presented their ideas during the inaugural session. Shri Yogesh Mohanji Gupta, Chancellor of IIMT University, Meerut, India, attended the program virtually.
In his address, Chief Guest Gautam expressed his hope to organize such programs in the future and appreciated the theme of the conference. He said, “From enhancing decision-making in management to fostering sustainability in operations, AI has revolutionized the way we approach solving problems and identifying opportunities.” He expressed his optimism that the conclusions of this conference would pave the way for a better understanding of the agenda, benefiting all sectors with the results produced.
The Principal of Global International College, Shrestha, shared his personal experience with the use of AI. He said, “Last year, I delivered the welcome speech with the assistance of ChatGPT. However, when I watched my post-program video, I realized something was missing: emotion. Though AI assisted me in the program, it lacked the emotional connection.” He further added, “AI has challenged teaching pedagogy and the entire education ecosystem.”
Professor Bajracharya emphasized that AI presents both threats and opportunities. He noted that while the challenges cannot be overlooked, the opportunities AI brings should not be ignored. AI has contributed significantly to solving human problems and sustaining livelihoods. It has made a positive impact in various sectors, including government, for local development. Rather than focusing solely on the challenges, he stressed the importance of being prepared with solutions and protecting ourselves from potential threats.
The conference is a two-day event, continuing until tomorrow. The next day feature panel discussions with keynote speakers as well.
