Kathmandu. Kathmandu witnessed significant traffic disruptions today due to processions in three major areas: Durbarmarg, Balkumari, and Maitighar. The Traffic Police have urged drivers to use alternative routes to navigate these areas, which have been heavily affected by diversions.
Vehicles heading to Durbarmarg were rerouted through Keshar Mahal, Mahendra Salik, and Jay Nepal, leading to traffic jams at key junctions such as Padmodaya Mode, Putalisadak, Kamaladi Mode, Krishna Pauroti, Jay Nepal, Jamal, and Lainchaur, according to the Traffic Police Division.
Outside these areas, traffic conditions in most parts of the valley remained normal. However, the morning peak hours saw congestion in Jadibuti, Koteshwor, Balkumari, Gwarko, Satdobato, Maitighar, Thapathali, Kupandol, Tripureshwor, and Taukhel.
The Traffic Control Room confirmed that traffic movement on routes leading in and out of the Kathmandu Valley, including its border areas, was operating smoothly without significant disruptions. Authorities have advised commuters to plan their travel accordingly to avoid congestion-prone areas.
