Indian Army chief Dwivedi arrives in Kathmandu



Kathmandu . General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of Indian Army Staff, arrived in Kathmandu today to receive the Honorary Rank of General of the Nepal Army.

During his visit, General Dwivedi is scheduled to meet Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Defence Minister Manbir Rai, and his Nepali counterpart, General Ashok Raj Sigdel. He will also pay tribute at the Heroes Memorial at the Military Forum in Tundikhel and inspect a Guard of Honour at a military base.

Since 1950, Nepal and India have followed the tradition of conferring the Honorary Rank of General to each other’s Army Chief.
