Tricot Honored with Export Excellence Award for Contributing NPR 2 Arba to Nepal’s Foreign Currency Reserves



Lalitpur .Tricot, the largest pashmina exporter in Nepal, has been awarded the prestigious “Export Excellence Award 2024” by the Lalitpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The company was recognized for its exceptional contribution to the national economy, particularly in foreign exchange earnings.

Over the past five years, Tricot has brought in nearly NPR 2 Arba (NPR 1.94 Arba) through exports of its high-quality woven garments, primarily made from pashmina, to markets in Europe, the United States, and India. The company also generates additional revenue domestically, with sales totaling approximately NPR 17 Crore in the same period.

Founded nearly 25 years ago with joint investments from China, India, and Nepal, Tricot has been solely owned by the Golyan Group since 2005. Its product line includes pashmina sweaters, scarves, hats, and socks, sold under the brands Iscotch and Boslina, though official partnerships with renowned international brands such as Kuzten, Finch Hatton, Mala Alisha, Minnarose, and Raymond are yet to be publicly announced.

“We are proud to export to some of the world’s most recognized brands and continue to grow Nepal’s presence in the global textile industry,” said Shakti Golyan, Managing Director of Tricot.

Located in Biratnagar, Tricot employs over 350 workers, with more than 70% being women, underscoring the company’s commitment to gender inclusivity and job creation within the country’s manufacturing sector.
