Kathmandu-
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed hope that the report from the Eminent Persons’ Group (EPG) on Nepal-India relations will move forward.
The EPG was originally formed during the tenures of Prime Minister Oli and his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, to address bilateral issues between the two countries.
Speaking at the release event of the book titled “International Watercourse Law: A Perspective on Nepal-India Cooperation,” authored by Suryanath Upadhyay, held on Saturday at Baluwatar, Prime Minister Oli emphasized that since both he and Prime Minister Modi were the ones who initiated the formation of the EPG, it is only fitting that they advance the group’s work now that they are both in office again.
Oli highlighted the importance of the report, expressing his willingness to acknowledge it and expecting the same from the Indian side. He stressed that the recommendations made by the EPG could provide a framework for resolving existing disputes between Nepal and India.
He further stated that while there are several issues between the two countries, they are not insurmountable. “Nepal and India have several disputes, but they are not major ones. They can be resolved with a broad mind and patience,” he said, adding that open and peaceful discussions are essential for resolving any disagreements.
