Kathmandu-
The celebration of Rishi Panchami continues in various Shiva and Rishi temples across the country, especially observed by Hindu women. This festival, which falls on the fifth day of the bright half of the lunar month of Bhadra, marks the conclusion of the Teej festival.
On this day, women observe fasting and perform rituals dedicated to the Saptarishi (seven sages), who are revered for their contributions to eradicating evil and promoting the welfare of humankind. These rituals are mainly performed by girls and women who have reached the menstrual phase, with the belief that they will be blessed and forgiven for any sins committed during menstruation.
In the early morning, women and girls visit nearby ponds or water bodies to cleanse themselves before engaging in the rituals related to Rishi Panchami.
