Kathmandu-
The government is set to appoint Sangita Pahadi as the Managing Director of Nepal Telecom. According to sources, in today’s Council of Ministers meeting, Pahadi is expected to be officially named for the position.
The Recommendation Committee, formed during the tenure of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, had shortlisted three candidates after oral and written presentations. The committee, chaired by the then Communications Secretary Ram Krishna Subedi, had recommended Sangita Pahadi, Anil Jha, and Saligram Acharya for the role.
Current Minister for Communications and Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has decided to proceed with the previous recommendation to the Council of Ministers, according to sources. The government intends to avoid controversy by maintaining the original recommendation and not disbanding the committee.
Pahadi has been acting in the role of Managing Director following the suspension of former Managing Director Sunil Poudel on charges of corruption and illegal wealth acquisition.
