Kathmandu . Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Member of Parliament, Hari Dhakal, has called for the immediate release of youth protesters arrested during the Gaura Parva event held at Tundikhel.
Speaking at the House of Representatives on Wednesday, MP Dhakal criticized the arrests, describing them as unjustified and an overreach by the authorities.
Dhakal argued that the youth were detained for allegedly causing disruption during the Gaura Parva celebrations, but he stressed that their actions were merely expressions of protest. He emphasized that the government should pay attention to the grievances of the youth rather than suppressing their voices.
“The arrest of these young individuals for speaking out against corruption and unemployment is a misguided approach,” Dhakal stated. “These protests are a warning to those within Singha Durbar who have neglected the youth’s demands for better opportunities.”
He further urged the government not to adopt a repressive attitude towards the youth, warning that such actions could exacerbate the growing dissatisfaction among the younger generation.
