Vehicles are to be excluded from the categorization of Luxurious item: President Dhakal

Chandra Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), has called for the exclusion of vehicles from the list of luxurious items.

Speaking at the inauguration of the NADA Auto Show 2024, President Dhakal urged the government to consider the significant contribution of the automobile sector to the state’s revenue when framing policies. He emphasized that removing vehicles from the luxurious items category could lead to increased revenue for the state.

Dhakal also highlighted the growing market share of electric vehicles, now comprising 65 percent of the market, and stressed the importance of developing the necessary infrastructure to support this growth.

Additionally, he appealed to the government to crack down on the illegal import of vehicle spare parts, calling for stricter regulations in this area.
