Devotees Flock to Patan Krishna Temple for Shree Krishna Janmashtami Celebrations

Kathmandu. A large throng of devotees gathered at Patan Krishna Temple early in the morning to celebrate Shree Krishna Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna, believed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

The festival, observed on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadrapada according to the Hindu Lunar Calendar, is a significant religious occasion.

Priest Gopal Prasad Poudel, who arrived at the temple around 8 AM, shared, “Lord Krishna was born on this day, so I came here early to celebrate his birth and good deeds, as well as to seek inner peace. Purification of the soul and heart is another reason that brought me here.”

Throughout the day, various religious organizations were seen chanting hymns, selling religious books, and offering Tika to the devotees. A majority of the devotees in the queue, mostly women, were eager to worship Lord Krishna and offer their devotion.

In addition to the religious activities, several free health camps were organized, providing health check-ups to visitors. Facilities for drinking water and juice were also made available. The distinct features of the day were the peacock feathers and flutes carried by many devotees, symbolizing Lord Krishna’s attributes.
