19th Godawari Flower Competition and Exhibition Begins in Lalitpur

Kathmandu — The Floriculture Association Nepal (FAN) has launched the 19th Godawari Flower Competition and Exhibition at the Jawalakhel football ground in Lalitpur, targeting the upcoming Tihar and Chhath festivals.

The five-day exhibition, which runs from October 29 to November 2 (Kartik 12–16, 2083 BS), is being held under the slogan, “Grow Chrysanthemums, Decorate Your Home and Surroundings.”

FAN has been organizing flower fairs and exhibitions annually since 1994 (2051 BS) to promote the commercial development, expansion and marketing of Nepal’s floriculture sector.

With Tihar approaching, the exhibition aims to ensure easy access to flowers commonly used to decorate homes, gardens and courtyards, as well as for welcoming guests. It also seeks to promote the commercial cultivation of chrysanthemums and encourage the development of new varieties and improvements in production quality.

The exhibition features a total of 86 stalls, including 78 commercial stalls, one plant clinic, four official stalls, two competition stalls and one photo-selfie stall.

As chrysanthemums are the main attraction of the event, the exhibition will continue its tradition of holding competitions in different categories and recognizing outstanding entries.

Participating nurseries and farms will compete in five chrysanthemum categories: miniature, spider, reflex, incurve and cut flowers.

The organizers have also arranged a competition to recognize the best exhibition stall, aiming to encourage participating nursery businesses and promote excellence in the floriculture industry.

The event is one of Nepal’s major exhibitions dedicated to chrysanthemums, bringing together flower producers, nursery operators and flower enthusiasts ahead of the country’s major festivals.
