The Dairy Industry Association has urged its members and stakeholders to actively support the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of people affected by the devastating floods in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and other districts.

Issuing an appeal on Thursday, the association expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by the floods and the displacement of many families. The association paid tribute to those who lost their lives, extended condolences to the bereaved families and expressed solidarity with those affected by the disaster.

The association called for effective coordination and initiatives among the concerned government agencies for the prompt rescue of flood victims, search for missing persons, medical treatment of the injured and provision of safe shelter.

As the risk of flooding remains, the association urged dairy entrepreneurs, businesspeople and farming families operating in high-risk areas to remain alert and relocate to safe places when necessary. It also urged them to follow instructions issued by local security agencies while continuing the collection, transportation and distribution of milk and dairy products.

The association appealed to the general public to contribute as much as possible to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of flood victims in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and other affected districts, while embracing humanitarian responsibility during this difficult time.

The association also urged all dairy entrepreneurs and stakeholders affiliated with it to raise financial support from their respective locations. It pledged to coordinate the deposit of such financial assistance directly into the Government of Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund or any other official fund designated by the government.

The appeal was signed by association President Niranjan Shrestha and General Secretary Suraj Sapkota.
