Narayangadh-Muglin Road Section Restored for Traffic
CHITWAN—
The vital Narayangadh–Muglin road section, which had been blocked for two days due to continuous heavy rainfall and subsequent landslides, has officially reopened for traffic as of 6:00 AM this morning (Monday).
The Road Division Office, Bharatpur, confirmed that traffic has resumed smoothly on the route, a major lifeline connecting the capital to the rest of the country. The two-day suspension, which began Saturday night, had left thousands of travelers stranded in designated holding areas in Chitwan and along the Prithvi Highway.
With the Dashain holidays drawing to a close, the immediate resumption of traffic has allowed a large number of long-distance vehicles, which were previously halted at 14 designated safety centers, to proceed to their destinations.
Warning Issued: Caution Advised Due to Persisting Risk
Despite the clearance of debris, authorities are cautioning travelers that the danger has not passed.
The Road Division Office and District Police have jointly warned that the risk of landslides remains extremely high following the severe rainfall on Friday and Saturday. Motorists and passengers have been urged to maintain a high degree of vigilance while traversing the route.
“The Narayangadh–Muglin section is clear and operational since 6 a.m., but we sincerely request all passengers to travel safely, as there is still a risk of landslides along the route,” a notice from the authorities stated.
As one of the country’s busiest highway segments, the smooth and safe passage along the Narayangadh–Muglin road is critical for the national transportation system, particularly as the country returns to routine work following the major festival season. Road division teams are reportedly maintaining continuous monitoring of the high-risk slopes and managing traffic flow to ensure safety.
