Kathmandu- Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dev Raj Ghimire, said that new laws are being drafted in Parliament to make freedom of speech, the right to information, and press freedom more practical.
Speaking at a program in Lalitpur, he mentioned that some laws are currently under discussion in Parliament with the aim of strengthening these rights in real practice.
He also emphasized the need to swiftly turn legal provisions into practical actions and ensure their effective implementation. Ghimire noted that in the modern era, it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish between fact and falsehood in journalism. He stated that it is a challenge to move forward while staying committed to the truth.
Speaker Ghimire also highlighted the role of the media in preserving and promoting their native languages.
