Minister Adhikari Prioritizes Efficient Use and Protection of Nepal Trust Properties

Kathmandu-

Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation Minister Balaram Adhikari has issued directives for the proper utilization and conservation of land under the Nepal Trust. He instructed the management team and workers to ensure the precise and lawful use of these assets.

Minister Adhikari, who was recently elected as the chairperson of the Trust for the first time, assumed his role as the guardian of the Trust. During his visit to the Trust’s office in Kamaladi, he provided clear instructions to the subordinate bodies.

The Minister highlighted that Nepal Trust owns shares in lands, historical palaces, and commercial residences across the country, including in Kathmandu. He emphasized the need to leverage these assets for profit within the legal framework and to identify additional properties that should be recognized under the Trust.

Minister Adhikari also directed the Secretary of the Trust, Ram Adhar Shah, to prepare a current progress report and a list of essential activities to be carried out in the coming days. He urged that these documents be submitted to the Ministry as soon as possible.

As per Clause 159 of the Interim Constitution of Nepal 2063, the Trust was established to manage and utilize properties in the name of King Birendra, Queen Aishwarya, and their family members, which remained after their demise, for the benefit of the nation. Following this directive, the Nepal Trust was formally established under the law passed in 2064 BS.
