Kathmandu. The 6th National Honey Fair 2025 kicked off today atBhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.
The three-day event will run until June 7 (Jestha 21–23), and is open to visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with free entry.
The fair was inaugurated by Ram Nath Adhikari, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, who served as the Chief Guest.
At the opening ceremony, Shiva Prasad Sharma, President of the Nepal Beekeepers’ Association, highlighted the lack of market demand as a major challenge in honey production. “Domestic consumption is significantly lower than production,” he said, emphasizing the need for market expansion.
Addressing the issue, Minister Adhikari stated that ensuring quality production is crucial to solving market-related problems. He encouraged beekeepers to remain honest and committed to quality and assured continued government support. He also called on the financial sector to invest in the honey industry.
From a health perspective, the Minister noted the medicinal benefits of honey and urged the public to include it in their daily diet. He stressed the importance of promoting domestic products over imported ones, stating that supporting local production could contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
According to the event organizers, the fair features 40 stalls showcasing different varieties of honey, each with unique flavors and benefits.
