Editor of Taksar Magazine Kiran Acharya Honored



Kathmandu — Kiran Acharya, editor of Taksar magazine and Chairperson of the Association of Nepali Agricultural Journalists, has been honored with the title “Agricultural Journalist of the Decade.”

The award was presented by Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ram Nath Adhikari during the 16th Annual General Meeting of the Dairy Industry Association Nepal on Tuesday.

Acharya received the award in recognition of his outstanding news coverage of milk and dairy products, as well as his long-term contribution to the agricultural sector through journalism. He began his journalism career in Rolpa in 2059 B.S. and moved to Kathmandu in 2064 B.S. From 2068 B.S., he worked for over a decade as an agriculture and economic journalist at Karobar Daily.

With more than two decades of experience in Journalism, Acharya has also been active in media education, teaching subjects such as public relations, mass communication, and journalism. He is also the co-founder of the economic premium magazine Taksar and currently serves as its editor.

Other journalists honored at the event include Rajesh Barma, senior correspondent of Clickmandu; Suresh Kumar Yadav, co-editor of Gorkhapatra Daily; Raju Chaudhary, senior correspondent of Kantipur Daily; and Nawaraj Chalise, Head of the Economic Bureau at News 24.

“For the first time, outstanding journalists were selected and honored for their significant contributions to the agricultural sector through journalism over a long period,” said Rajkumar Dahal, Chairperson of the Association of Nepali Agricultural Journalists.
