Kathmandu: About 93.6 percent of rice plantation has been completed throughout the country. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, 96.3% of the land area has been cultivated for rice plantation as of 20th Shrawan.
Last year, during this period, 81.3 percent of rice plantation was completed. Nepal produces paddy on a total of 1,401,273 hectares, of which 1,347,607 hectares have been planted as of 20th Shrawan this year.
In terms of provincial progress, Sudurpaschim Province has the highest amount of rice plantation in the country. The Ministry reported that 100% of the rice plantation has been completed this year, compared to 99.2 percent last year during the same period.
There has been an increase in rice plantation in Karnali Province this year. Last year, only 96.3 percent of the total cultivation area was planted with rice by 19th Shrawan, but this year, 99.2 percent of the area has been planted by 20th Shrawan.
In Lumbini Province, 93.7 percent of the total land has completed rice plantation. Similarly, 96.3 percent in Gandaki Province, 94.9 percent in Bagmati Province, 95.4 percent in Madhesh Province, and 95 percent in Koshi Province have completed rice plantation this year, according to information provided by the Ministry.
