Kathmandu — A main celebration committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for the National Democracy Day, 2081.
A meeting of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, held today at Singha Durbar, discussed and passed the proposal for the formation of the main celebration committee, along with sub-committees and various programs proposed by the Home Ministry. The meeting also decided to celebrate National Democracy Day in a grand manner.
The main celebration committee, under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, includes Deputy Ministers, Ministers and Ministers of State, the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the Chief Secretary of the Nepal Government, the Commander in Chief, the Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Secretaries, and special category gazetted officers of the Nepal Government, Chiefs of the National Investigation Department, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police, as well as the Mayors of municipalities in the Kathmandu Valley.
A sub-committee has also been formed to handle publicity aimed at encouraging participation from all relevant bodies and parties, as well as managing stage decoration, ground operations, exercise management, cultural tableau coordination, and a cultural diversity exhibition.
Additionally, it was decided to form Provincial Celebration Committees under the chairmanship of the Chief Ministers in all seven provinces, to mark the ‘Day’ with various programs. Every year on 7th Falgun, this day is celebrated to commemorate the historic establishment of democracy on 7th Falgun 2007 BS.
This year, for three days, from 6th-8th Falgun, lights will be illuminated at Embassies in Nepal and abroad, diplomatic missions, and consulates. On 7th Falgun, the main program will be organized at the Nepal Military Stage in Tudikhhel.
Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Oli urged the public to celebrate this historic day, which marks the Nepali people’s victory over tyranny and regression that had oppressed them and shown contemptible tendencies.
