Kathmandu– Today, a Jeju Air flight traveling from Bangkok crashed at Maun International Airport in South Korea. According to the Korea Times, 93 bodies have been recovered out of the 181 passengers on board. Two passengers have been successfully rescued, while 73 others are believed to have died in the crash.
Yonhap News Agency confirmed that during the landing, issues were observed with the landing gear, leading to the plane landing without it. While attempting to land, the plane skidded off the runway and collided with the airport’s wall, causing the crash. The flight was carrying 175 passengers and 6 crew members.
The crash occurred at 9:07 AM local time. Following the incident, all domestic and international flights have been canceled.
In a related incident, a plane en route from Azerbaijan to Russia crashed near Aktau Airport on December 25th, resulting in the deaths of 38 people.
