Ncell Foundation has announced financial support of NPR 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of people affected by the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on Wednesday.
The flood has caused significant loss of life and property in riverside areas of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and other districts. Amid the need for immediate rescue, relief and rehabilitation of affected people, Ncell Foundation announced the support in response to the government’s appeal.
Ncell expressed its heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives in the disaster and deepest sympathy to the bereaved families. The company also wished for the swift rescue of those who remain missing and effective management of relief efforts for affected communities.
Ncell has also been supporting people in the flood-affected areas through its communication services. Ncell customers in the affected areas have been provided free voice and data services, along with 100 free SMS, for three days starting Wednesday.
The initiative is expected to help affected people remain connected with their families, relatives and teams involved in rescue and relief operations.
Ncell’s Director of Corporate Communications, Marketing and Sustainability, Bishakha Lakshmi Khadka, said standing with people affected by disasters is a shared responsibility.
“Standing with the affected people during this difficult time is a shared responsibility for all of us. We have decided to provide NPR 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts. We would like to assure the affected families and communities that we stand with them during this difficult time,” Khadka said.
Ncell has been supporting rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts during various natural disasters over the years. The company said it would continue its support and collaboration in the days ahead based on the needs and circumstances of affected communities.
