Arun G.C. Appointed Assistant FAO Representative and Head of Programme in Nepal

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations has appointed Arun G.C. as the Assistant FAO Representative and head of Programme in Nepal.

Prior to this, he served as a Programme Specialist at the FAO Nepal office.

Before joining FAO, G.C. worked as a Senior Agricultural Extension Officer at Nepal’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.

With nearly two decades of experience in agriculture, food security, nutrition, marketing, and rural development, G.C. has played a leading role in coordinating and implementing programs from the policy level to local projects, both with national and international institutions.

An agricultural economist, G.C. holds a Master’s degree in Agriculture from Tribhuvan University and has pursued MPhil/PhD studies in Agriculture and Rural Development at Kyungpook National University in South Korea.

Actively engaged in academia as well, he has taught at various universities in Nepal. He has served as a faculty member at institutions including King’s College and the Himalayan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (HICAST), where he taught graduate-level courses in agricultural economics, policy, and project management.

As the newly appointed Assistant FAO Representative, G.C. will be responsible for programme management, policy facilitation, and coordination with government bodies and development partners in the Nepal office.
