Allocated Budget Favors Ruling Parties: Congress Lawmaker Giri

Kathmandu- Nepali Congress lawmaker Deepak Giri has alleged that the budget allocation for the Fiscal Year 2082/83 favors the ruling parties.

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Friday, Giri criticized the budget, saying it is biased toward the ruling alliance rather than being development-friendly or investment-oriented. He claimed that budget allocations have been made for homestays and parks while ignoring critical infrastructure projects such as the Charigaon Airport.

Giri further alleged that the budget has betrayed both the people of Dang and their elected representatives. He pointed out that, despite the Prime Minister repeatedly assuring in Parliament that the Charigaon Airport would be built, only 10 million rupees has been allocated for land acquisition — far below the estimated requirement of 700 to 900 million rupees. According to him, this appears to be a deliberate attempt to undermine and discredit the people’s representatives.

He added that while the government allocated 30 million rupees to construct a mourning shelter (Kriyaputri Bhawan), allocating only 10 million rupees to a project that directly impacts citizens’ lives is both ridiculous and politically motivated.
