Gwarko Flyover to Open Today, PM Oli to Inaugurate

Kathmandu – The Gwarko flyover is set to officially open for vehicular movement today following the completion of its construction. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to inaugurate the flyover this afternoon at 4 PM.

The construction of the flyover began on 27th Poush, 2078 BS, with an initial completion deadline of two years. However, the project failed to meet the deadline, leading to a penalty imposed on the contractor, Ashish-Samanantar-Religare JV, for the delay.

The flyover spans a total length of 576.2 meters — extending 320 meters towards Lagankhel and 185 meters towards Satdobato. It is 16.4 meters wide and designed to accommodate four traffic lanes.

This flyover has been constructed using ‘soil improvement technology’ essential for mechanical stability, which is expected to reduce future land subsidence and structural issues.
