Community Unites Against Drug Abuse: Awareness Session Successfully Concludes at SAIM College

A large-scale awareness session against drug abuse was successfully held at SAIM College, Old Baneshwor, as part of the Community-Police Partnership initiative.

The program brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including senior police officials, local government representatives, educators, business leaders, students, and parents, all committed to addressing the growing threat of drug abuse.

The session was chaired by Ashok Raj Pandey, Principal of SAIM College, and graced by the presence of Chief Guest AIG Tek Bahadur Tamang, Head of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari. Their participation underscored the significance of building strong alliances between law enforcement and the community to effectively combat drug-related issues.

Notable contributions were made by DSP Rabiraj Thapaliya, Head of the Community Branch of Kathmandu Valley Police Office, and DSP Birendra Godar, Head of the New Baneshwor Police Circle.

Inspector Deepak Babu K.C. from the Community Branch of DPO Kathmandu and Inspector Surya Prasad Paudel, Head of Koteshwor Traffic Police, also delivered key messages on community engagement and the need for early prevention.

Representatives from Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward-10, including Shatis Tandukar and Sunita Bhitrakoti, expressed their support for joint efforts to safeguard youth and neighborhoods from the consequences of substance abuse.

The event witnessed active participation from organizations such as the Baneshwor Business Association, Community Service Center Baneshwor-10, Hostel Business Association, Nepal Hostel Association, and various local clubs and committees.

More than 450 individuals, including bachelor’s level students and parents from SAIM College, attended the program, reflecting strong community interest and commitment.

Organizers expressed sincere gratitude to all participants and the local community for their enthusiastic involvement.

They emphasized that awareness programs like this play a vital role in educating young people, fostering informed decision-making, and reinforcing cooperation between police and the public.

Through sustained dialogue, education, and collaboration, the community continues to build a united front for a safer, drug-free society.
