Kathmandu – Minister for Forests and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri has expressed the ministry’s commitment to addressing the challenges related to private property in the buffer zone.
Speaking at the meeting of the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday, Minister Thakuri acknowledged ongoing complaints that existing regulations have created difficulties for private buildings, land, and commercial activities within national parks and buffer zone development areas. He stated that the ministry is prepared to simplify these regulations to ease such challenges.
He further noted that the current state of the Buffer Zone Development Committee is somewhat different from past conditions. Rather than modifying the definition of the Act through amendments and discussions, the government is considering making the necessary changes through regulations to simplify the process.
During the committee meeting, discussions were also held on Sections 9 and 72 of the bill related to the Ministry of Forests and Environment, as part of efforts to amend certain Nepal Acts.
