Kathmandu – Deposits in ‘A’ category commercial banks have increased by 4.90 percent, while lending has surged by 6.12 percent within the first eight months (Shrawan–Falgun) of the current fiscal year.
According to the Nepal Bankers’ Association, total deposits in commercial banks have grown by 4.90 percent, reaching NRs 6,037 billion, while total lending has increased by 6.12 percent, amounting to NRs 4,851 billion over the same period.
Among commercial banks, Global IME Bank Limited recorded the highest loan disbursement, amounting to NRs 429.83 billion, and also collected the highest deposits, reaching NRs 533.23 billion.
However, NIC Asia Bank Limited saw a decline in deposit collection by NRs 61.86 billion, bringing its total deposits down to NRs 298.68 billion.
Similarly, lending also decreased in NIC Asia Bank Limited, Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited, and Prabhu Bank Limited, with declines of NRs 35.43 billion, NRs 3.83 billion, and NRs 1.35 billion, respectively.
