The government aims to bring policy and legal reforms through a replacement bill: Ghimire

Kathmandu – Chief Whip of the Nepali Congress, Shyam Kumar Ghimire, claimed that the government is trying to bring legal reforms through the replacement bill of the ordinance.

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday, Ghimire stated that the government is attempting to bring execution reforms through the replacement bill. While acknowledging that further improvements are still needed in the bill, he accused the opposition of protesting without fully understanding its provisions. He questioned whether the opposition’s objection was related to the bill’s content or its procedural aspects.

“The government is trying to address certain areas through the replacement bill of the ordinance. It aims to introduce policy, legal, and implementation reforms. However, these efforts alone are not sufficient to make the country’s economy dynamic. Additional reforms are necessary. Yet, I feel that the opposition has opposed this bill more than necessary. I am unclear whether their objection is to the bill’s process or its content. Instead of excessive objections, the focus should be on incorporating more essential provisions into the bill.”
