Calls Grow for Immediate Operation of Udayapur Cement Industry

Kathmandu – Member of the National Assembly, Goma Devi Timilsina, has raised concerns over the deteriorating state of the Udayapur Cement Industry, urging the government to take immediate action for its revival.

Addressing a National Assembly meeting on Sunday, MP Timilsina criticized the government for neglecting the industry’s worsening condition. She highlighted that while socialist-oriented countries are witnessing industrial growth, Nepal is experiencing the rapid closure of industries, including those established with donor support.

“The Udayapur Cement Industry has been ignored for a long time. Workers and employees have been struggling without wages for months. Industrial development is thriving in socialist-oriented nations, but in our country, industries built by donor nations are shutting down. I urge the Speaker to take immediate steps to resume operations and stop threatening the livelihoods of employees,” she stated.

She further emphasized the urgent need for the government to prioritize the industry’s reopening and prevent further hardships for its employees.
