Disputes Over Pathivara Cable Car Project Lower Investor Confidence: President Dhakal

Kathmandu – President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has stated that disputes over the Pathivara Cable Car project have negatively impacted investor confidence.

He added that while Nepal is encouraging foreign investors, restricting local investors from investing and participating in development projects has lowered their confidence. Speaking with a correspondent from News Agency Nepal in Mahottari, he stated that obstructing development projects, such as the construction of cable cars, is unjust. He emphasized that the cable car is being built primarily to facilitate easier visits to the Pathivara temple and to promote tourism.

Dhakal further noted that such disruptions could also create challenges in generating employment opportunities within the country. He explained that the cable car project is particularly beneficial for children and elderly individuals who wish to visit the temple while also providing job opportunities for local residents.

According to Dhakal, this project has the potential to become a mega project for Koshi Province. However, he claimed that certain political figures have deliberately obstructed its construction, leading to dissatisfaction among both local and foreign investors.

Residents have expressed support for the project stating that it would make temple visits more convenient for pilgrims and devotees while also boosting employment opportunities. They also highlighted that, beyond religious purposes, the cable car would improve mobility for both tourists and locals. The project is expected to benefit people of all religions and cultures, not just a specific group.
