Maoist Centre Objects to Removal of Corruption Bill from Parliament Agenda

Kathmandu – The Chief Whip of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre), Hit Raj Poudel, raised an objection to the removal of the corruption bill from the agenda of Parliament.

Speaking during the emergency session of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Chief Whip Poudel stated that the government was functioning against the agenda set by the Business Advisory Committee. He also accused the government of minimizing and ignoring Parliament.

Poudel questioned whether Parliament should merely follow the government’s instructions or whether the government should adhere to the agenda created by an organization formed by the representatives of the people. He further accused the government of undermining the traditions and practices of Parliament while presenting the bill related to legislation.

It was announced that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli would present the report of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, along with a discussion on the amendment to the Prevention of Corruption Act during Tuesday’s meeting. However, when the same bill was removed from the Parliament’s agenda, the main opposition party voiced its objection.
