Industrial Production Index of Malaysia Increases by 3.8 Percent in 2024



Kathmandu – The Industrial Production Index of Malaysia has recorded an annual increase of 3.8 percent in 2024, compared to a 0.7 percent increase in 2023.

The official report highlights that the positive growth across all sectors contributed to the overall increase. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, the overall Production Index rose by 4.4 percent. Meanwhile, the Mining Index and Electricity Index grew by 0.7 percent and 5.6 percent, respectively.

The manufacturing sector, which accounts for 68.3 percent of the total production, saw an increase of 5.8 percent. The mining sector recorded a positive increase of 0.4 percent, indicating progress, while the electricity sector experienced a growth of 3.5 percent.

In general, the fourth-quarter report shows a gradual increase of 3.4 percent compared to the third-quarter record, which stood at 3.9 percent.
