Kathmandu – Health and Population Minister Pradip Poudel stated that while health insurance in Nepal provides essential facilities and relief, it is not yet systematic.
On Friday, a reform committee was established within the Ministry to improve the health sector. After receiving the report, Minister Poudel remarked that although the current insurance management provides relief and facilities to the health sector, it does not meet the necessary requirements.
He added that the ministry has formed a task force to study the insurance sector, as partial facilities alone are insufficient.
Minister Poudel emphasized the need to advance health insurance so that the target population can fully benefit from it. He also highlighted that the government is working to make the health sector more systematic. Stating that a thematic document has been received to organize Nepal’s insurance system, he expressed confidence that the report will cover all sectors. Minister Poudel expressed confidence that the report also includes information on how to ensure resources when health insurance reaches five hundred thousand.
